Boot disk was copied from original sega boot disk (which had usual holographic outer ring).

CDR boot backups do not have outer ring - hence disk swap.

Advantages to the origianl swap trick are that this only has to be done once untill machine is powered off.

No swap tricks have to be done afterwards.

Machine never checks for outer ring untill power off.

Swapping disks all the time as before can damage laser assembly.

Also some games like radiant are very difficult to get to run.

Boot disk makes it a breeze.

If yuo want a copy please let me know.

An image of the disc you describe has been floating around on the Internet for a couple years now, and has even been poked at by various dev types in hopes that the unlocking code could be relocated to AR firmware or similar...

			Winner is, who�ll find a way to bypass the copy protection with a boot cd or by cheating the Saturn or something else, which outcome of this is, that gamers can play copies by just inserting the CD-R in the Saturn CD-RoM without having to install a modchip or without to apply the swap trick....


A real boot cd would be inserted and cheating the Saturn that you don´t have to swap. Just insert the CD-R after the boot cd cheated Saturn´s copy protection method...

Hi Mr Saturn.

The boot disk does eactly that,Fools the saturn.

You dont have to do any more swapping after the initial process.

Just insert any cdr for hours on end.

The boot cd does not make the swap trick easier - you dont have to swap at all afterwards.

It temporarely flashes the saturns bios chip so no swapping is neccesary.

Untill machine is turned off.

But you have to perform a swap!

And for me, when i´m in need to play a cd-r sometimes i play only one game at once, so i have no advantage of the point, that you only have to do swap it once and then no more until you turn off the machine...

This method is the closest i have seen at getting cdr to run without the hassle of swapping disk after disk.

Yes,There is a disk swap at the beginning - but only for the single boot disk itself.

After this any disk can be used.

The only other way i can think that this machine could be fully cracked is if somebody was to find a way to fully stop the machine from looking for that outer ring.

The chips do do this but as i am shure you are aware they are not that easy to fit.

My disk works just like the Dreamcast one but the difference is it only needs to be performed once,Untill machine is turned of.

Untill there is a disk which PERMENANTLY gets rid of the security check forever this seems to be the closest way to running cdr wiyhout unteen disk swaps afterwards.

radiant refused to run via swap method.

The boot disk made it run first time.

The machine itself is built to look for the security ring as i am shure you are aware,

The boot cd temporarely stops it.

Only one disk swap is needed on the bbot disk as this itself is on cdr.

The original $1500 one does have the sceutity ring on it.

But both let the user simply use cdr after they have flashed the bios.

Let's just be perfectly clear here. You haven't discovered anything new. The developer boot disc has been known about here for years and was ripped years ago. Here's a thread... from 2001 discussing this. The behaviour you are talking about is perfectly normal, and doesn't solve the underlying problem of circumventing the copy protection cleanly. There is nothing novel or interesting about what you have done

Now we're on the subject (to some extent), I wonder how the VCD card can get the Saturn to read data from discs without security ring :looney

Well i am glad i amused some of you.

I think that a lot of people cannot even get cdr to work,Let alone a boot disk.

Plus radinat silver gun running for next to nothing cannot be bad.

By the way i do have the ORIGINAL boot disks (programmers disks).

They where from Sega HQ.

I was going to put this down in the thread...

I also have 2 spare blank sega saturn cdr which the images could be burnt onto.

This would create another 2 fully running boot disks with no disk swapping at all.

But now i have thought twice about any info.?

Is this possible?

Where is the CD image?

Then we would only need to make it a cart application.

Or only send it through the PAR.

The VCD card is only used as another piece of hardware in the Saturn, like if you would plug in another joystick so to speak. If it's there, it will be used by games that use it. If it isn't, big whoop.

well, its actually not as simple as that, but you get the idea.
