Utopia and Imports?

I'm an idiot and have never played Soul Calibur on the DC. So sue me.

Anyways, I'm on ebay and it looks like the Jap import of Soul Calibur is fairly inexpensive (as compared to the US counterparts). Can the infamous Utopia boot disc load import games, including PAL (there's always Shenmue II, another I stupidly haven't played).

And the other question, how hard would it be to play the import of SC? I know a number of Jap games don't really make much difference what country it's from (menus in all english, like Radiant Silvergun) or half and half (Elevator Action Returns) or are all Japanese (Last Bronx). Anyone have experiences with SC, and know where it falls?

Thanks much!

I can't imagine that the Jap would be that much of a difficulty. There isn't much text at all.

Is the import THAT much cheaper? I thought the US copy went for $25 or $30?

It goes for how much? mg:

I would have only paid $20 at most and that's AU rather than US.

The utopia disc loads my meger collection of imports fine - Virtua Tennis (US) and Ikaruga (Jap) both load in PAL 50htz mode.

7.99 + 8.00s/h for a new, sealed copy.

Thanks for the replies! Now I have to go find this Utopia bootloader... thing.

I can upload it somewhere if you need.
