Utility to find duplicate files?

Over the last few months I've copied all the documents and such from about 2-3 of my computers and dumped it all on my newest PC.

Problem is that there are a lot of duplicate files, some being older versions.

I'm trying to find a utility that can find duplicates -- files with the same name. And let me see the last modified date, view them if necessary, and choose which one to delete.

Anybody know of any good programs that can do this?

Must be able to run in XP

any you've actually tried?

I've tried a couple and they both were dumb.

I'm trying to avoid installing and uninstalling dumb apps

u can manually do it w/ the search thing. OR you could put all yer shit in 1 directory and then it'll let u know of duplicates. then u can sort it out and put it where it belongs after it's sorted.

not sure what you mean by having search do it.

and as for the putting all in one folder thing, I have a LOT of files most of which are actually organized in folders -- it's kinda hard to explain

EasyCleaner. Its no longer available freely on their web site, but there are slighty older versions available elsewhere. It also cleans your registry. I've used it, BUT I don't know how well it works on XP. So check out Duplic8... instead, perhaps. Or maybe Jv16 Power Tools, which does that and more, but its shareware.
