Hi

just asking what the hell the Saturn Control Unit (SCU) is and what it´s for?

Is it comparible to all the other processors (is it a processor?) and what is it´s mission in the Saturn?

The SCU is basically the glue that binds the various pieces of the Saturn together. It's what shuttles data among the SH-2 system bus, A-bus (cart slot, CD block, MPEG card), B-bus (VDP1/2, SCSP), and if memory serves the high work RAM. It has a full-featured DMA engine, timers, and interrupt control functions. Its overall role is not too far removed from the north bridge in PCs. However, it also contains a general-purpose DSP core, so it does have some processing ability as well.

Hope this helps.
