Saturn screen blinking

Hi

I just recently traded a guy a copy of F.E.A.R. for the PC to a guy for a Sega Saturn with a regular and analog controller.

He stated that the system was "previously modded" (it has a little switch on the side of the system) but now only played "US games". Which is fine cause I'm not interested in the mod at this moment in time.

Not only that, but it came with a 3rd party RF Switch (by "Performance") that looks like the black sleeving got pulled away from the unit at one point, because the little colored wires inside are showing (where the wire connects to the RF Box)

Here's the thing though, when I plug it in, the screen blinks as I'm using it. It takes me to the Date/Time screen (It needs a new battery, no big deal I know how to fix that one) but as I'm doing it, the screen blinks or "pulsates" black every few seconds.

What I'm trying to figure out is do you think it's a problem with the RF Switch (that's what I'm hoping for) or do you think it's a problem with the mod chip?

Thanks
