Saturn has trouble reading discs

I hooked up my backup Saturn today (PAL model 1, but not with the PSU attached to the lid), and to my surprise it wouldnt read some games (all originals). After a few tries I did manage to get Rayman to load, however it took insanely long to seek to audio tracks (the title music, for instance, starting playing after a 15 second delay). And after, say, 15 minutes of play the Saturn suddenly jumped back to the CD player screen saying 'checking disc'

Anything I can do?

Try adjusting the laser pot a little clockwise,seems like your laser is dying

okay, after some fiddling with the orange dial it works a lot better now. Thanks!
