Rare Saturn Card?

Hey! I moved recently and found a Saturn cartridge that I had fogotten all about. I searched quite a bit on the web and can't figure out who made it. It's a black cartridge with a green and red label. The text says "CD PLUS +" on it, and there's a drawing of three blank, silver CD's underneath it. I've confirmed that the cart allows me to play Japanese games on my US Saturn, but those silver blank discs make me think there might be more to this. Does anyone have any more info on this card? Thanks! :cheers

Probably just allows playing imports, although I know of at least one SS cart that slows down the CD drive to make the swap trick easier. Does it pop up any kind of graphics or menu on boot?

Yeah, I know the Magic Card v2 will do that.... I can test it when I get home from work. Few questions about that, though... If it does in fact slow the drive down...

Will it work on both Model 1 and 2 systems? I have both.

Do I need to circumvent the Flip-lid swith so the Saturn thinks it's door is staying closed, or is it OK to just open it up? If I'm gonna test this, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Yeah, if it actually does that (which isn't probable, but anyway), it should work on model 1 and 2 systems. You'll still have to fix the switch; I don't think it's possible to control that w/software.

Well, I tried it out with both models, using an official US disc and a burned copy of Radiant Silvergun.

I modified the door on doth so the Saturn thought it was closed at all times. It read the official game, and actually stopped the motor at the "Start Application" screen, but when I tried to replace the disc with the backup, it tried to re-authenticate and hung. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Did you remember to burn Radiant Silvergun as US not Jap region?

Well, the card allows me to play JAP games on my US system... so I didn't think it would matter. I'll try burning a US game and see if that works...

I have got the same card and it doesnt allow for backups, nor does it help with slowing the drive down

only cart that will stop the motor for easy swapping is MagicCard v2... and it only works with Sega Saturn from what I heard - believe something to do woth BIOS... and in all my times never heard of the cart that will bypass the secrity ring check...

What else would a Saturn Cart work with?

 dj898 Jun 19, 2005
what I meant was it only works with Sarturn from Sega, not JVC or Hitachi...

I really wouldn't have thought that the JVC and Hitachi bioses would be that different, but you never know.

well there's a guy in Japan who has the Magic Card V2 and it doesn't work on his Hi-Saturn but fine on This is Cool Saturn...

Yeah.... just as I expected. It didn't work. Anyone know if anyone still has any modchips in stock that are compatible with the 64-pin chips? I have an extremely early model 1 and a 64-pin unit with round buttons that Racketboy's chips don't seem to like. :/

you will have to hack the current chip to work on your Saturn...

i have feeling if and when I do find the source for dual pin chip it will cost way more than a used saturn itself...
