PSX cd drive

Is it possible to switch a cd drive from a 1000 series with one from a 9000 PSone series?

If it is feasible, how difficult is it to attempt?

Why would you want to do that? Did you get the PSone for free or something?

probably wants to make some psx backups work on his model 1000 (dont ban me for that comment), the one with the garbage laser/cd drive, but i think those units in the psone are shaped differently than the model 1000's. you'd probably be better off getting a modchip for the psone. (dont ban me for that, either)

wrong place to ask i'd think . . .

Heh, that's what I was assuming. Anyway, Mods don't have the power to BAN, only Admins do, and I won't BAN you for those comments anyway even if I was an Admin, so rest assured.

Just increase the laser power. Here you can find out how to do it (spanish site):

But you can read the how-to for the saturn unit, both are pretty "similar".

I'm going nuts here since nobody is sending in any Sega Art for me to post

 MasterAkumaMatata Nov 21, 2001
BTW, how much virtual storage space and bandwidth allocation do you have for the Sega Art and Music stuff at computer.gaming.org?

If you really want more Sega Art, I'll see if I can dig up some more.
