Playing back-ups on SEGA CD?

Is it possible to play a back up of a game on CD-R on your SEGA CD? Does it need a modchip or some sort of modification? How can it be done?

Yes, you just have to burn the game normally, the Sega CD has no copy protection. bin/cue is ideal, but iso+mp3 is also no problem... I always burn in disc at once mode. Just make sure the games you're trying to use are the correct region.

Cool! I always thought it had protection. Also is there a way to load Genesis roms burned on a CD through SEGA CD?

Run away, before Arakon eats you! :smash

(that's a "no", by the way)

ROMs are actually memory cards with read-only data burnt into the chips.

The Megadrive + Mega CD does not have the memory by its own to store any of these roms. (4mbyte vs something like 64kbyte).
