Need help with my sat mod

A few years back I bought a mod chip off Lik-sang I gave up coz it didnt appear to work and my saturn does have oval shapped buttons...

I have recently been playing around with it and the chip does fit into my console so this means mine is a 21 pin saturn right? There are 64 pins in the middle and I soldered one wire to the 8th one and the other wire to the 5v...

When I try to use my saturn it plays both original games and backups as music cds...

Does anyone know what is going on? and is there a way to fix it?

*there fixed up the saturn - xbox typos*

Cmon guys im looking for help...

Unfortunately there seems to be an incompatability between the currently available mods and Saturns with the 64 pin IC on the CD board.

It could just be that your installation isn't quite right, but I'd be more inclined to think it's becuase of the 64 pin chip.

So theres no way to get this working? with my current saturn?

Do all model 2 saturns not have the 64 pin IC....

I thought in one mod install tutorial is said the 8th from left to right on the 64 pin ic? but im not too sure...

Double check that everything is hooked up where is is supposed to be.

Make sure that there is no solder that is accidentally shorting the 9th or 7th pin to the 8th pin of the 64 pin IC. Beyond that there's not much you can do.

There are also CD boards with 32 pin ICs. They work fine with current mods.

Those modding instructions were correct. It seems something about the mods has changed. :huh

I wanna buy a model 2 saturn but how do I know if it is gonna have a 32pin ic or not?

 mal Dec 9, 2003
I don't believe there's any way to tell without opening it up.

actually there is... if it appears to have more than 30 pins, it is probably a 32 pin.

Don;t mind me. I don't know what the heck you're talking about. that's why I am waiting for someone to mod a saturn for me.

 Simanski Dec 9, 2003
So what should I do buy a saturn model 2 now for cheap or just keep fu**ing around with this?

I doubt that it will work seeing it hasnt yet and everything seems to be correct although I dont know much about saturn modding.

There one on ebay now(in aus where im from) for bout 20 bucks finishing in 40 mins should I buy or not?

 mal Dec 9, 2003
It's up to $32 now...

If you've got the money to take the punt then go for it.

BTW it's nice to see more Aussies here. :thumbs-up:

Did u bid on it?

That might be what I have to do though... buy another saturn

 mal Dec 10, 2003
No, I didn't bid on it. I've already got way too many Saturns.

 Simanski Dec 10, 2003
in 20 seconds ill have too many saturns

 Simanski Dec 10, 2003
33 dollars... is that a good price I know i should have waited a while instead of buying the first one but ohh well... if i get this 2 work ill sell my model 1 saturn and its games(originals) and play backups

 mal Dec 10, 2003
$33 for a boxed Saturn sounds pretty good.

Out of interest, where in Oz are you?

 Simanski Dec 10, 2003

I just want a working modded saturn so I can play backups... where u at?
