One time I got a MAME version that supported model 3 whereas on official release it was unsupported (special build made by someone ?)
Now I see there is model 2 emulation on latest MAME build but games don't start, is there a way to get a build with mdel 2 emulation activated ?

There might just be some bugs. I'm running R. Belmont's SDLMAME (which is based on the MAMEDEV WIP patches) and they sort of work, but so far I haven't found one that actually gets to gameplay.
