Modchip modifications?

Im just curious to know why you can modify the one modchip to be used on a 20 pin Saturn and not this one...

Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm sure it could be done to that sort of mod as well.

It's just that no one has yet.

The oscillator on this mod board, does it serve the same function as the signal wire to the CD-ROM IC pin on the other mod board (the blue one)?

Would the Atmel chip on this mod board be the GAL chip I've read about on other posts?

I have no idea.

You'd probably have to ask Pinchy.... He knows an awful lot more about the electonics of modboards than I do.
