Can anyone tell me how to wire a Scart cable onto a Japanese MD1? |

from a good Sega French site : else you can hack a french rgb cable (tutorial on this same site) or you can also make a RCA cable (same site) |

synch does NOT go to pin 8. it's only needed for the 32x. pin 8 should be connected to 5V, with a 100 ohm resistor from pin 8 to pin 16. also, GND should connect to pin 17, not pin 18. |

So then how should I wire it up? |

i BELIEVE this is right. I just want to add. I can understand not knowing what arakon said... but come on how can you not understand instructions the sligtest to not just give it a f-ing try. |

Because I'm not making a 20 mile round trip to get a 100 Ohm resistor as there is nowhere local that sells them and believe me I've looked. Another problem with the MD is that there is no sound, except mono through the headphone jack so what I've done is wire it up with a RCA video lead which gives a picture. If I wanted to add a sound cable, could I wire it to the headphone jack and ground? I'm not a very technical person, so where is a ground point near the headphone jack? |

so there isnt a commercial scart cable for sale for the genesis? would suck if it didnt. |
Kaneda | Oct 15, 2004 | |||
of course... but the one for the MD2 is easier to find for the MD1, it will cost you a lot |
dragonforce | Oct 15, 2004
so there IS a scart cable commercially avaible? who made it? |
Kaneda | Oct 15, 2004 | |||
third party...perhaps Sega but I don't know |
lordofduct | Oct 15, 2004

The thing is, in the UK, I can't find a MD2 RGB Scart cable anywhere. The reason I wanted to hardwire one onto the MD is because I have 4 systems. 1 with a RGB cable 1 with hardwired composite AV cable 1 with a seperate composite AV cable 1 with a hardwired RF box All are 50/60Hz switchable apart from the one with the RF. I want to add the switch to that one and I just figured it would be cheaper to hardwire a stereo Scart lead to it than find one. |
