The model 2 genesis has a cheap power connector. All the model 2's I've found have the power adapter plug really loose, and you've got to fiddle with it to get the unit to turn on. Don't have that problem with model 1's. Also, model 1's have stereo headphone plug-in in the front. The downside to model 1's is that the headphone jack is the only way to get stereo (outside of a mod), while with model 2's you can get a stereo A/V cable (wasn't included by default though which is dumb). But if you got a SegaCD, you can just use the stereo RCA audio out from that anyway, so it doesn't matter which genny you have. I also have a problem with the audio from model 2 gennies, I think I'll post about that in the genesis forum. If the smaller size is important to you, then you might as well look for a CDX. Or a genny3 (which are suprisingly cheap, considering that they were never sold in Minnesota so I never even knew they existed until I saw one at a used game store in Illinois. It's amazing what never makes it to the shelves of the north country). JMT. |
