Just got PDS
Gallstaff - Dec 16, 2003
 Gallstaff Dec 16, 2003
I just git PDS as an early xmas gift but it cost 100 bucks. I know thats WAY too much but it was shrinkwrapped, unopened and came with a little sega club card which of course is non longer of service.

Did I pay too much money for it?

dunno, I have a friend who paid $180 for a shrink wrapped used copy of it, where the game crashes right before the last boss.

Personally, I don't think I'd be willing to pay more than $50 for it, I don't feel that it is good enough to spend any more than that on it.

edit: and $50 is pushing it.

For a shrink wrapped copy I think you got a pretty good deal. But I also wouldn't pay much more than $50 or so. I still haven't played through my copy of it.

 Scared0o0Rabbit Dec 16, 2003
is it brand new shrink wrapped? or just reshrinked?

 Gallstaff Dec 16, 2003
Reshrinked but mint

not a bad price considering -- especially if that included shipping

it's up to you to decide what you think it's worth.

if you put it back up on eBay, and did a top-quality listing, included a excellent photo and gave information on how mint it was, you would probably turn a profit.

Really it's all in how you present it on eBay

I agree. It's hard to put a price on it, and say for instance, that $100 is the going "market rate" for it, even taking into account "rarity" and condition, and demand. If I had to put a price range on it, I'd say anywhere from $100-200 assuming it's a complete copy.

And that's the reason I wouldn't buy it. It's only as much as you decide to sell it for. Sure, letting it go for $20 would be considered insane, but if everyone started selling theirs at $20, the alleged market rate for it would be around $20.

But if people believe that it goes for over $100, and that's what all of the sellers continue to sell it at, people will pay that much for it.

Pricing doesn't make sense, besides just being a model for rarity, condition, and demand. I'd sell my autographed copy of Feet of Fury to a friend for $20, but who knows? 5 years from now people might be selling it on ebay for over $100.

But yeah, I'm a cheapass bastard too, and I won't spend over $50 for a game even if it's going rate is over $50.

I'd normally agree but this is a christmas present and I'm not paying for it and it's really one of the few things I want so I figured what the hell.

Nice, I just picked up SF3 mint us for 45... not too shabby.... nice catch Gall

Have fun! It's really an excellent game.

 Krelian Dec 17, 2003
I got mine in pretty good condition (mint disks, instructions slightly wrinkled) for $107 with shipping... so that's a good baseline I feel... REshrinking doesn't really mean anything, I can do that at work for nothing...

PAL copies in here complete with all cds, box and manual go for $20. But since its Pal it has black borders and runs slower (50Hz) unless its was PAL optimized which I doubt otherwise I should get one copie of PDS immediately.

 Myname Dec 21, 2003
$20?! You can get one for me while you're at it, mate . You'll be my new best friend

 Pyrite Dec 21, 2003
Yeah people who sell it don“t know its a collectors item so you can find it if you really want it, PDS PAL is not as rare as it is on US so you can get that price, either 2nd hand or in stores who sell vintage games and 2nd hand vg.

 AntiPasta Dec 21, 2003
IIRC, PDS was PAL optimized so maybe the PAL version is better!

Oh and according to Edge the PAL version is worth more because it has more insert artwork (due to the packaging).

Are there any black borders on the PAL version?

 IBarracudaI Dec 22, 2003
