Is it possible to put a quieter fan in the DC?

It would be great if I could quiet down my Dreamcast.

Anybody done it before?

I haven't done it, but I don't see why not. Even if the fan is soldered directly in, it should just be a matter of two points. Or you could look for one of the early model DCs that has a heatpipe.

edit - btw, the drive is the noisiest part of the DC by far...

yeah I know the drive is loudest, but that ain't gonna be an easy task

Everyone screams about the volume of the the Dreamcast... I bought mine back in highschool and played the hell out of it and never once noticed how loud it isuntil recently after everyone has picked on it so much.

but that is what the volume of the television is for! If you have Jet Grind Radio in and you blast that kick ass soundtrack you are not going to hear the 'wirka wirka rint rint' of the DC!

but not every game has a killer soundtrack

Anyway, aren't there times you pause your Dreamcast and turn off the TV for a while?

no... I play that bitch till it's beat!

I remember when I got Sonic Adventure 2 when it was released; I got it the day before graduation. I came home at like 8 or 9 at night. I decided to play a few rounds before going to bed, the excitement was high.

Next thing I knew, my alarm was going off telling me I had to get ready for graduation day!
