GF4, C&C Renegade & curved surfaces...

Hi

I installed C & C Renegade original. In the graphics option menu, Iāve set the graphics to full. There is also an option: ācurved surfaces (if hardware supported)ā but I canāt select it.

Iām using a GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB 8X AGP, the latest 53.03 Detonator drivers & DX9.0b.

Doesnāt this card support curved surfaces?

Do I need to update the game with a patch?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what they mean by curved surfaces; AFAIK that isn't really a hardware feature at all.. maybe it applies to some particular card or something. It could also just be an incompatibility with the game and your driver.

New ATI cards have "curved surface". Basically it's a card option where it adds intermediate polygons to objects (if the supports it) to make them look smoother and such. You gotta have one of the DX9 ATI cards to use it (not sure about DX8 cards or Nvidia cards).

I think you're thinking of Truform.

That's the name. At least that's what ATI calls it. Not sure if that's what the C&C game is refering to but it's the only thing I can think of.

It's probably something else, Truform is mainly only used for character models and the like.

No it can be used for landscapes. I know that Soldier of Fortune II did.

That's true, I forgot about that one.
