Fairness in reviewing

Is it fair to compare SNES or PSX ports on the GBA to native GBA titles?

It might be fair if the port is worse than an "original" gba title which would smack of laziness or display the talent and skill of the developing team working on the true gba game, but games developed for consoles receive more time/effort than handhelds IMO.

I like to believe that games should be reviewed on the merits of the system and the other games available for that system.

For example, Silpheed in the SegaCD blew me away. The graphics were incredible and all the action taking place in the backgrounds were awesome! However, the PS2 version of Silpheed I thought was a dog. Sure the graphics were better than those of the SegaCD version... but I was less impressed by the game, possibly due to the fact that the backgrounds weren't as vibrant as those of the SegaCD version.

um.... i dont think the 2 slipheed games are related at all. Cause the second was made by treasure.

I heard that the second was co-developed by Treasure and Game Arts to some extent...
