Dude, where's my car...

just watched it for the first time

does it seem a lot like a more modern Wayne's World/Bill & Ted?

Dude, where's my car...

Not really more modern. Just another sort of idiot buddy picture where it all turns out well in the end. MY kind of movie!

When I feel like lowering my iq, I tend to watch things like excel saga or urusei yatsura, and not movies like dude where's my car.

Here here. Though Urusei Yatsura is more sophisticated.

Both Dude and Wayne's World were pretty funny for the first half hour, but after that, things start getting dumb

I concur. You have to be a fan of bill and ted to enjoy the second one. Hmm I bet this has probably been thought of before but wouldn't it be great if there was a bill and ted meet jay and silent bob movie?
