Download Bug...
retroborg - Apr 12, 2004

When I try to download a file (*.zip) from various sites using Internet explorer, the browser does not ask me where to save the file, instead it starts the download procedure in the background without showing anything and once it finishes, it places the file in the Windows Temporary Internet Files and then explorer opens it in a separate window.

This doesnāt happen in all sites.

I think it started after I used ad-aware to delete some adware & after I installed Agnitum Firewall. But I could be wrong.

Is there a way to fix this bug?

Iām using WinXP PRO SP1 & Internet Explorer 6.0

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dunno if they changed this between W2K and XP, but open Explorer, Tools, Folder Options... and on the File Types tab find Zip files and edit the properties.

Then go download firefox and use that instead of IE .
