Dolby Surround Sound?

I just popped in Road Rash when i notice it supported Surround sound. I didn't know any saturn games had surround. How many games support this feature?

FIFA soccer 96.

Would that be actual in-game sounds, as in positional 3D of sorts, or just the CDDA music? Dolby Surround is after all encoded into a regular stereo signal, so game music could come that way to begin with - but I'm not aware of the Saturn being able to do Dolby Surround encoding in realtime.

You don't have to do it in realtime - you can include preprocessed samples (remember Second Reality?)

ah... so that's why they put in the Dolby logo in the demo... methought it was some stupid joke

Wonder if the C64 version has it too? :cheers

I remember being told the actual preprocessing needed is rather simple, something like phase inversion (the demo used the simplest form of ProLogic). There were two realtime 3D systems available for the Saturn (QSound and Yamaha's), but I don't think there were any realtime Dolby libraries.

True, but how could the game change the perceived source of the sounds then...
