21-pin model Saturn or not?

How do I tell a 21-pin model Saturn apart from the other model(s) ? I'm thinking of buying and installing a mod board, so it's kinda important...

All model 2 (round power/reset buttons) are 21 pin. Some are harder to mod than others, due to the number of pins on the chip you solder a wire from the mod to (64pin vs 32pin) and there is no reliable way of telling which version you will get.

The best way to mod your Saturn seems to be by buying a modboard through gamegizmo.com, and doing mal's easy ass mod installation....

Read. Become wise

I've read Mal's guide, though I can't say i understood it all. I think it'll be easier once i get my Saturn unit and mod board.

I still need a 21-pin Saturn, right? Mal's trick just makes it easier for people with older models, right?

Btw, is gamegizmo's mod board the same as lik-sang's ?

My 'Easy Ass mod installationā¢' makes it easier to install a mod in a Saturn that has a 64 pin IC on the CD board. I believe them to be older model 2 Saturns.

Gamegizmo's mods are theoretically the same as Lik-Sang's and Lan-Kwei's.

However, anecdotally, it seems that Gamegizmo's mods actually work with 64 pin Saturns whereas the others' don't.
