no clue? never messed w/ the options in the game

I never have been able to figure that out either.

AND, as far as I know, the RPG elements (intellegence, etc.) have NO effect on the gameplay!

What? No way dude.. INT makes your character's spells bigger and more powerful.

I think it had to do with reseting the game. A+B+C+Start and X+Y+Z+Start or something like that.

 it290 Dec 11, 2003
Hmm, nope, I don't think that's it either... can't be bothered to check at the moment, but I believe the game has a seperate option for setting the soft reset command.

The manual says "turning it on makes your life easier. Turning it off will keep you in your toes".

I remember reading somewhere what it does... something to do with the enemy or ally AI or something, gotta pay attention to the game to see what it really does.

My bet is that the enemies will loose interest on the characters if they are knocked down or dazzled/unconscious/etc.

--EDIT--

Just checked gamefaqs forum, and found this:

USER FRIENDLY makes the Magic menus appear larger and more "friendly".

Hmm, yeah that was my post on GameFAQs as well. Your description sounds more likely, according to the manual description. Although whether the option is on or off, the enemies don't seem to have any qualms about pounding me into the ground repeatedly.. dizzy or not. I'll check out the other one, I haven't noticed anything different about the menus, but then again I hardly use them anyway. The mystery will be solved!

Hmm, actually after further investigation it seems like neither of those theories holds water. Changing the option has no effect on the menus, and you will still get beaten down if you are dizzied while the option is on. My current theory is that having the option on makes the enemies prefer attacking the CPU (undead warrior/selena) character when in range rather than your character, but I'm far from certain on that point.
