The seamy underbelly of Sega |

This is written by a fellow, who later turns out to have worked for Sony and Sega. This is from 2007, mind you. Analysis here... Some choice snippets: “Sonic Team are a relic from a past age who have overstayed their welcome. For the same marketing reasons that their name was initially kept (and has since backfired) they should be dissolved - it may already be too late for NiGHTS (and I really hope it isn’t and they manage to turn it around, which with Iizuka-san’s passion for the project is a possibility), but for the good of the company’s image; for the future of Sega’s other prestigious IPs and lastly for its iconic mascot it needs to be done… before they release another Sonic game with a transforming Evil ‘Night’ Sonic who looks like a werewolf and can stretch his arms out Dhalsim-style. It will happen, mark my words.“ He's talking about Sonic Unleashed. This is well before we even had an idea of its existence. Oh, and, apparently, Nights: Journey of Dreams was a 360/ps3 title, only to be changed with a year remaining to the Wii, giving Sonic Team not nearly enough time to make a proper game. Original blog here.... After reading this, it's hard not to lose a little (read: a lot of) respect for Sega, and grouse even more about how they've treated their diehard fans and franchises. |

Why would they get rid of Sega's name? Sega is a huge brand. |
