Shenmue II (PAL) $30
Cloud121 - Feb 5, 2004
   Cloud121 Feb 5, 2004
Hey guys, my friend at school is offering me Shenmue II for $30. Should I go for it? He says it's complete, along with card board sleeve it came in. I'm really considering it. You think it's a pretty good deal? I think so, but I'd like your input.

Also, will Utopia boot Shenmue II?

Assuming that it's in good condition, that's a pretty good price.

go for it, that's a great price.

Hell yeah. Great game. Wayyyy better than the first. Get the VMU too, you can never have too many where the DC is concerned- why did they make them so bloody small)?

Yes. As far as I know, the only import that Utopia won't boot is the original Shenmue, with a different reresh rate that what your dreamcast uses (for example a PAL version on a US machine, or a US version on a PAL machine). Gameshark Lite will boot all imports. I highly recommend getting the original in PAL format too so you can carry over data between games.

EDIT: I voted yes + VMU by the way. Who voted no!!?? :devil

Shenmue 2 is an excellent game, I highly reccomend it.

There's a FAQ on gamefaqs that explains how to convert a US Shenmue save to work with Shenmue II.

I tried that once, but I could not get the damn Dreamcast e-mail to work.

does that work with any other game?

   Cloud121 Feb 6, 2004
While I HIGHLY doubt it, will the converted Shenmue save still work with the US game?

Also, should it not work, once I start a new game in Shenmue II, can I then trash the UK Shenmue save? That is, after I transfer the data over.

Good question, Cloud. I would also like to know.

   KuKzz Feb 6, 2004
I've done it and it really works.

Converted save will not work with US shenmue 1 game (it's useless anyway, since you can't load it) and yes, you can delete it after you transfered data to Shenmue 2 & saved in it.

I've been able to load my US Shenmue saves up with the PAL Shenmue. But none of them were converted so I guess that's why.

Now, how many blocks does Shenmue II take up on a VMU?

   it290 Feb 9, 2004
18 + 4 if I recall correctly.. that figure may be slightly off, but the saves are a lot smaller than the first game (due to compression I assume).
