Hmm THIS... site has compatibility lists for some saturn emulators, not sure how up-to-date they are though |
Carnivol | Jun 5, 2003 | |||
Well, seems to be pretty much up2date Thanks man (that's exactly what I was looking for) |
racketboy | Jun 5, 2003 | |||||||
from the site:
that would be today yeah I think it's half-way current |
Carnivol | Jun 5, 2003 | |||
Hmm... Can't seem to find Dracula-X and Robotica on any of the lists... Have anyone tried these two out in any Saturn emus lately? (If so, what are the results?) |
mal | Jun 5, 2003 | |||
You could always try them. |

From reading the news the last time a GAME was added to the compatibility list was back in March 2002 |

That compatibility list is old. Newer versions of Satourne, SSF, and Girigiri have been released since then. Dracula X runs fine in Girigiri with an updated games.dat file. Gunstar Heroes is a Genesis game, not a saturn game. Use Gens. If you really meant Guardian Heroes, then the sega b-club girigiri runs the game fine. Both these games don't run correctly on the current version of Satourne. SSf might run them, but extremely slow. Most saturn game's I've tried on the sega b-club girigiri runs fine. A few graphical and sound bugs here and there, but very playable. Minimum system requirements for girigiri is atleast a P3 600 mhz system with as much ram as you can get. Has problems running games from CD drives on Winxp systems. Satourne runs games fast but it's compatibility is very lacking. Most games don't run and error messeges. No cd rom drive support and can only run cooked isos. The plugin system is neat and promises fast development, but may be a bit hard for newbs to get running. SSF runs some games and has good CD rom drive support, but is very slow. Even on my 2.2 gighertz Athlon Xp barton. :huh |

I'm sure he meant Guardian Heroes --- seems to be a common mistake |
Carnivol | Jun 6, 2003 | |||
Thanks for pointing the Gunstar/Guardian thing out, fivefeet8! (I haven't pulled out all my Saturn games yet + I got plenty of other game stuff... So name mix-ups do happen) 600mhz minimum... damn... (Still haven't got rid of this P3-500mhz...) Atleast I guess I got everything else needed... (Games, PC, 512mb ram, 32mb Geforce2, etc...) Well... Atleast Dracula-X works fine, my brother never got to see it back in the days I had a Saturn. (So now I'm gonna get it to run on the computer... or evt. get a new saturn) |

Is the lazyness so immensive that prevents you from merely downloading the emulators and following the intructions to run them? It's not like you have to go outside, walk a few miles, get into a store and pay for them... BTW, 600MHz minimum? What computer is that, that can run GiriGiri at FULL SPEED with mere 600MHz? You need something around 2GHz for full glory. The FASTEST I got with my Duron 900MHz was 40fps, with Panzer Dragoon Saga (strangely, one of the games that runs fastest). Most other games ran at 20-30 fps, some got slower than that. DraculaX is no exception. Under 500MHz... it'll run no faster than SSF (5-10fps). (note for the iliterate: the original saturn speed is 60fps - in NTSC mode. Even if a game runs at a "lower speed", like, 30fps, this only means that specific game takes the time of two frames to draw a single frame) |

I agree that some people are just lazy, but not all of them. Most newbs know very little about emulators/computers/software. Which is why they find it hard to work with an emulator such as Satourne and Epsxe. After a while they do catch on and run the emulator with ease. You can run girigiri on a 600mhz P3 system if you mess with the "Vsync" options in the game.dat and enable frameskipping in the user.ini. |
Carnivol | Jun 7, 2003 | |||
yeah... it's lazyness that has been the reason why I haven't checked out any Saturn emulation yet... (+the fact that untill lately, there hasn't been much to "test", and ofcourse, not to be forgotten, my crappy computer) Well... Anyway, gonna give it a try now |
Carnivol | Jun 8, 2003 | |||
Hmm... GiriGiri atleast brings me to the Saturn bios menu (w/Dracula-X's toc...) But it doesn't seem to start the game for me... Tried everything... I guess... I got a updated Games.dat (w/dracula-X in it) I've tried both Giritool and Glaunch... (messed around with the settings... But nothing seems to help) I'm running XP, so the CD drive seems fucked in Giri... Running the ISO is something it just doesn't want to... (even though I've placed it in same folder, fixed filename in the BASE.INI and so on...) Hmm... Tried running Satourne too... But it just doesn't like XP I guess I can't boot with it... my XP seems to have some sort of problem with it... (But my old computer w/98 doesn't) Well... Any suggestions to what I can try? |
fivefeet8 | Jun 8, 2003 | |||
Make sure your making "RAW" bin images. Girigiri can't run from the cd in Winxp. |
Taelon | Jun 8, 2003 | |||
Just a question on the side, what's wrong with running the ENGLISH version of Dracula X using a PLAYSTATION emu? I dunno, it just seems to me that the main reason people want to play Saturn games on an emu is the improved graphics (resolution), and in the case of Drac^H^H^H^H Castlevania SOTN Of course, this whole argument falls flat the moment you mention Guardian Heroes... |
fivefeet8 | Jun 8, 2003 | |||
Maybe because some people don't have the PSX version of Dracula X. |
Carnivol | Jun 8, 2003 | |||
There's some differences between the PSX and Saturn version of this game... The Jap PSX version was first released... It had some stuff that was stripped away from the English release... The Saturn version, which was released after the PSX version had ALL the stuff found in the PSX version + 1: Maria as a Playable character 2: Two new locations in Dracula's castle 3: Several new items 4: a new sound/music test menu + several new music tracks (mostly remixes of older castlevania tunes) 5: An extra 1337ness factor Actualy, the PSX version isn't superior when it comes to graphics... (in SOTN) The Saturn is much better than the PSX when it comes to 2D graphics, so only the 3D backgrounds are worse on the Saturn than on the PSX! (But besides that, nothing is graphicly different, as far as I know) Anyway, I'll compile a new RAW image of Dracula-X (guess that's the problem...) |
