Theres no mention of it on the home page of riaa.org so it's clearly a hack, but still good.... it's got the entire Linkin Park remix album for download on the riaa's servers:

With the legal file sharing service kazaa still online, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) today announced that it intends to offer the latest albums for download from riaa.org. 



As you are probably aware, the RIAA has been pursuing a policy of preventing this activity in recent months 



We have recently become aware that this approach is yielding only limited results and in some cases may in fact be harming sales and the artists' revenue stream. 



The RIAA wishes to apologise for the heavy-handed manner in which the popular chinese site Listen4Ever was closed down, and would like to present the following items for free download as a token of its goodwill. 



Of course the list is relatively small, but please be patient - we expect to offer over 300 next week. We also intend to offer pre-released movies in the coming months.

It's the ultimate hack, and I can't think of any organization more deserving, 'specially after they've openly said they're open to hacking big-fish filesharers on the peer-to-peer networks.

It's been up for a couple days at least. I've already "archived" the page and consider it a piece of internet history. I could care less about the band; it's the prank that 0wnz.

I'd laugh if the RIAA put it up themselves and IP logged all the downloads of the MP3s to prosecture the people later Kind of like how I expect the US government to get ahold of the PayPal transaction records for everyone who donated to http://stopamerica.org/... and prosecute them for supporting terrorist organizations It's been 3 generations now. I think it's time my family line goes back to Hungary.

I tried downloading a mp3 for the hell of it. The file never finished. I think people are hammering their server for the mp3's

I found the questions in the "ask the riaa" section pretty interesting:
  • Where can I find information on giant monkeys?
  • When will you offer free movies?
  • Are there subscription music services up and running?

I doubt it the way the sight's set up some "average" computer user would think it's for real and the way the sight is so bogged down right now it would take forever to go after all those people.

Anyway I just downloaded one of the songs and it's only a 1min. 49 sec. long ???
