RGB and S video on Genesis model 1

I have checked many resources on the video options of the Genesis video output but have not found a solid and clear solution to producing either a RGB or S-Video singnal from a Genesis 1. From what I have read and tested there seems to be no Luma or Chroma signal from the unit nor does it give a vertical and/or horizontal sync signal. Only a "sync" signal. Any help? Thanks.

the genesis 1 has RGB by default, easily available on the AV connector.

it can be modded for s-video.

www.gamesx.com... has the RGB pinout

http://arakon.dyndns.org/Gen1svideo.html... has the s-video mod.

I have seen the info on the site but am not sure about the hsync and the vsync signals. The Genesis puts out a sync signal but can I use that for both the horizontal and vertical sync?

And thanks for the s video mod!

you can use the composite sync signal on either vsync or hsync, most (but not all) monitors will be able to sync to that.. if not, you'll need to build a small sync splitter circuit.
