I heard somewhere you could replace the voltage regulator with another model to reduce power consumption for better usage on batteries. Anyone happen to have schematics or know what the component model is?

I did mod a genny 2 to run on a 9v battery. Thing is it only lasts 1hr 45mn or so before it gets fruity. I should probably take a picture of the whole thing as making it work with the switch was tricky.

Yeah I did that with my PSone once... it ran off 5 AAA batteries. I was too chicken to let it run for too long, however, so I don't know how long it could run before the batteries ran out... prolly not much as the thing uses 12W I believe
