crystalmethod and I are working on catagorizing games by genre and trying to rank them.

Since the Sega consoles have a great abundance of excellent fighting games, I figured we would start with them. I'm also a bit of a connoisseur of 2D fighters.

I'm separating the 2D and 3D fighters since IMO they are very different.

I have ranked the games I am familiar with in order of what I think of them.

If I have left some exceptional game, please let me know.

Also please advise me of any adjustments in ranking that should be made.

I would like 2 votes for different people to be made in order for an actual change to be made.

Fighting 2D:

Street Fighter Alpha 2 - Saturn

Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Dreamcast

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike - Dreamcast

Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves - Dreamcast

X-Men vs Street Fighter - Saturn

Guilty Gear X - Dreamcast

too many entries for a poll -- max is 10

so we're just doing it the old fashioned way -- verbal voting

we're only doing ones that are on Sega consoles

the other ones you mentioned --- did you think they should be moved on the list? and if so, where to?

Hm.. gotta add Eternal Champions (original and its Sega CD sequel). Those are a given. Hm.. What're some other good fighters.. Art of Fighting is good on MD/Genny, but of course it's at it's best on an actual Neo Geo.

Edit: I just noticed the Eternal Champions gamse. Hm.. King of Fighters 2000, 2001, and 2002 for DC. Capcom vs SNK and Capcom vs SNK 2 for C. King of Fighters 96, 97, and 98 on Saturn (were 94 and 95 released on Sat?)

Edit 2: Just noticed the Capcom vs SNk games.

It's hard to suggest how you change it without us all submitting our whole list in order.

You missed Street Fighter 3: Double Impact (better conversions than Third Strike IMO), and I really don't think Alpha 3 deserves to be that high given what else is on the list. Personally I'd have MvsC 2 higher than the prequel also.

OK, would somebody who has lots of KOF experience, please rank the different itterations

BTW, '99 Dream Match is basically KOF 98

You could have just asked.

Maybe try listing the poll now.

k -- only did it for the 2D Fighters though

and it would be nice if you could vote for more than one (three maybe)

   crystalmethod Jun 25, 2003
I think people are just gonna keep entering in their own suggestions in which case, as Myname stated, people will just be submitting their own lists.....Cut some of the games that are redundent off...(i.e. who would vote for Dead or Alive on Saturn after DoA2 came out on DC?) and just create a poll....if people's favourites aren't there, they should just vote for what is.

   racketboy Jun 25, 2003
when it comes to redundant games (esp KOF), I don't know which ones to cut.

I've heard '98 and '97 were a good pair. Anybody else agree.

I'll leave the current poll up just to see how it goes.

   Jurai Jun 26, 2003
guilty gear on dc is THE most sexy 2d fighter on any sega console, kof on dc is fuck ugly, guilty gear is bonerlicious

   MasterAkumaMatata Jun 26, 2003
For 2D, I'd vote Street Fighter Alpha 2.

For 3D, I'd vote Soul Calibur.

   Reinhart Jun 26, 2003
2D : Street fighter alpha 2

3D : Virtua Fighter 3

   crystalmethod Jun 26, 2003
Looks like we have a runaway winner...I like that. It shows that everyone can agree that one game is cream of the crop...lets see how this pans out.

20 votes isn't bad, there's not all that many regulars here.

I went for Mark of the Wolves cos I figured it might not get voted for otherwise and it deserves to be up there.
