How about a hot swapable power supply? Should clean up the mess inside pc's.

Pretty sweet. And I like the redesigned molex connectors. They look a hell of a lot more sturdy.

Hot swap is nothing new, but the modularity is. A good idea, but more plug-in connections means more room for poor contact when things don't go your way. I'm undecided as to its ultimate usefulness, particularly given its inevitable cost.

Are standard PSUs deemed so obtrusive as to necessitate a monstrosity like this? I can see any practical use for it. Then again, if it were meant for practicality, it wouldn't be metallic blue, now would it?

I didn't see any mention of it being hot-swappable. Besides, to hot-swap a power supply, you kind of need two.

 IceDigger Nov 7, 2004
Swap the plugs for it I meant, not the actual power supply.

I agree the designs is rather beastly. What I liked were the redeisgned connectors. I hate how fragile molex connectors are. Or am I the only one that has broken one before?

I've always found them to be pretty sturdy. I've only broken one once, and that was intentional.

I've never broken one, but they kinda hurt my fingers sometimes when I have to push harder than normal to get them in.

You've more or less got it.

As for molex connectors, I've generally found them to be OK, but I prefer SATA connectors for new HDs. I've occasionally had a molex to molex connection that is ridiculously tight and to disconnect them I end up taking a couple of Robogrips to it.

That's a feature, damn it.

You're absolutely right, how could I have forgotten! Of course that means all my other connectors are defective. Oh well, a little super glue and they'll be just as tight as the working ones
