Los Angeles County recently asked vendors to stop using the term master/slave in product descriptions and labelling. Here are some other terms that they wanted changed and their alternatives.

11. SCSI - Cleanliness impaired

10. Killer App - Socially Maladjusted App

9. USB - USA

8. Floppy Drive - Erectile Dysfunction Drive

7. DIP Switches - Mentally Challenged Switches

6. HyperThreading - Attention Deficit Disability Threading

5. Heat Sink - He/Sheat Sink

4. Winmodem - Funmodem

3. ATAPI Device - Native American Device

2. Motherboard - Non-gender Specific Parentboard

1. Cancel/Retry/Abort - Cancel/Retry/Allow Woman to Choose

I never did think the MALE adaptor and FEMALE adaptor thing was right...

The guy at radio shack always gives me a funny look when I buy a GENDER CHANGER.

And why is ICEMAN member #1. I am waaay cooler than he is! I think my member number should be changed.

Well at least it makes sense.

That said, one of the guys in my Theatre Tech class, when the teacher explained the male/female terminology, started giggling; later in the period he made the demonstration connectors 'have sex'. Thankfully he was the only one who thought it was funny.

We started with history of theatre, now we've been doing mostly stage lighting.
