i have the official memory cart for the sega saturn. it wont load up at all. i think the battery might be dead inside it. any suggestions as to what i could do to fix it?

backup memory cart does not use the battery.

can you use another cart on your saturn?

if not it's your saturn's cart slot

it's not the cartrige slot because it works with my unofficial mem card and gamesharks.

What do you mean it won't "load up"? I've never used one, but as far as I know "real" memory carts (i.e. ones supported by the BIOS) do not have any kind of internal menu.

actually, they do have an internal menu. the menu would show up right under the internal memory in the system settings. by load up, i mean that when i turn my saturn on with a game in it and a working memory cart, it goes to the bios screen. but when i used to use the official cart back in 2000-2001, before it stopped working, it would do that. now, it dosent recognize the cart at all.

Yeah, by "internal menu", I meant a menu program that boots from the cart.

oh. That menu....

In a way, I guess it's good that it broke because i went on ebay searching for mem carts, and i finally gave in and bought the Action Replay 4 in 1. Onto my last question, does the Action Replay get recognized in games as cartridge memory? Or is it just like the game shark and only lets you store files on it?

answering my question, it does not recognize it as an external memory card!!! Oh well, at least i can still copy files from the internal mem to the card, except for hexen saves, which are like what, 3000 blocks, or maybe half of that.
