New Version 1.1 of "Transfer Suite"
Mask of Destiny - Nov 30, 2003

I updated my "Transfer Suite" for Sega CD today. It has the following new features:

-Dump 40Mb Carts (Super Street Fighter 2)

-Dump the Sega/Mega CD BIOS

-Dump SMS carts (using the PowerBase adapter)

Additionally, you can return to the boot menu by pressing Start after the dump has finished.

Notes:

Auto-detect does not work for 40Mb carts.

32KB SMS games are currently not supported, though you should be able to dump them using the 64KB option.

Dumping SMS games requires that you somehow disconnect pin B30 on your convert as well as B32. A piece of tape over the pins should suffice.

I haven't tested any of this except for the BIOS dumping.

You can get it at my site: http://www.pages.drexel.edu~mrp29/index.html...

Rookie question: Is it possible to swap my MegaCD BIOS with an older one?

Update a CDX cartridge?

The link doesn't seem to work btw.

You can't change your Mega CD BIOS without physically replacing the chip inside, the same goes for the CDX cart.

I missed a slash in the link. It should be: http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~mrp29/index.html...

The bios on the CDX cart is basicly a ROM, right? Couldn't you change that?

ROM = Read ONLY Memory

The CDX cart works like a Game Genie. It doesn't replace the BIOS, it just patches it in much the same way that a GG would, except that the "code entry" process is automated based on the detected BIOS. The CDX firmware is dumped, but it doesn't have much function without the hardware in the cart. As an educational tool, OTOH, it might be interesting.
