New Genesis RPG being released this December!

			Looks like a new RPG is going to be released for the Sega Genesis, Sega Megadrive and Sega Nomad videogame systems, right in time for Christmas! http://www.beggarprince.com/... I had read speculations that it will be about 40 bucks, but I think thatâs a bit over priced even for a new Genesis game. Never the less, it looks pretty cool for Genesis Standards. Interestingly enough, it seems that they'll also release an enhanced version later on for the SEGA MEGA CD! For the combat system, it seems to utilize the traditional Final Fantasy style, turned based mechanics, rather than the real-time, action oriented of Zelda & Terranigma on the SNES. Not exactly my cup of tea, but I know quite a few SEGA/RPG fan boys which should get pretty excited about this & will probably pick it up when it's released. It's not really a new game. It was made 10 years ago by a Taiwanese developer. The ROM dump of the original is probably floating around somewhere, though I don't know what the title is in Chinese.

According to the translator, it won't run on any current emulator. I hope they tested it on a Genesis 3...

edit: There's a thread started by the guy managing the localization project here....

			It just has some weird quirks compared to the Genesis 1/2.

			yeah doesn't the game genie not work on it? I think I remember that, never owned one to test it though.

			Also Gargoyles doesn't work on it (AFAIK it's more of a bug in Gargoyles than a bug in the Genesis 3, but it still works on 1/2), nor does Virtua Racing. Back on topic, this does look nice. In particular the art makes excellent use of the Genesis palette. I'd like to pick this up if it won't cost too much.

			Yeah I don't know about forty bucks. I'll see if someone will buy it for me for Xmas or something. The thing is I seriousily don't play vid games anymore. I do not know why the HELL I buy new games, but I do. They come home and sometime I don't even OPEN them. Hrmm... whatever, 40 bucks on a old genny cart though may force me to play the damn thing.

			While $40 is a bit much for a game for an obsolete system, it is understandable. Game carts aren't exactly cheap to manufacture, particularly in low runs.

			Both my SNES & Genesis are hooked up under my TV at the moment right next to my PS-2, Saturn & PSX. I'm playing Trerranigma & Thunder Force III & much more happy with them than spending my time playing crap like Batman Begins (PS-2) or some lame FPS on the PC that you could play through it in less than 9hours! Now if I could only find Streets of Rage 2 for the Geny, this would be some Holidays indeed!

			Anyways, this new âBeggar Princeâ Genesis RPG is of no surprise since I have some friends at Frozen Utopia who are currently working on Neutopia III & a new RPG called Mysterious Song for the PC-Engine / TurboGrafX-16. http://frozenutopia.nodtveidt.net/index.html... http://frozenutopia.nodtveidt.net/projects.html...
