Need help modding Model 1 Saturn.

Hello to everyone!

I recently bought a Sega Saturn Modchip. I knew that my model was a model 1 so i didn't think it was going to be this hard! Anyways, i did all the soldering and i plugged the 'new' chip into the Saturn. Nothing. The power wire is in the +5v slot. If i leave the chip bending in the motherboard slot, the drive access light does not blink and 2 green cubes at the BIOS, no animation, no rotation. If i push the chip up straight, the access light blinks rhythmically (1 per sec.) and there is an animation, then 2 green cubes, but no rotation. Do you guys have any ideas of what it could be? I'm testing with a backup. Pics coming soon. The saturn is the model that Pinchy has. I inserted it facing the outer side. Lens cable is inserted to the right of the modchip.

Thanks.

Did you figure this out? I modded a Model 2 (64-pin) and a Model 1 yesterday. The Model 2 worked after I figured out that I was plugging the chip in backwards! (doh!) I couldn't get the Model 1 to work. I checked to make sure that pin-1 was lined up with pin-1, but I guess there are some model ones where the pin-1 on the CD end of the cable goes to pin-20 on the MB side, so maybe I was trying to plug the mod chip in backwards on the Model 1 as well. I'll have to check it when I get home.

No, i didnt figure it out. If you do, then i'd really appreciate it. If you look at the original thread, i have the same model as Pinchy.

Yeah, so far no luck. I'm going to order the extension cable from Digikey and see if it's one of the ones that need to go in backwards. The pins are reversed from the CD-ROM to the motherboard, with the pin labeled 1 coming out of the CD going into the pin labeled 20 on the motherboard.
