Need Audigy 2 driver cd.
IceDigger - Feb 16, 2004
   IceDigger Feb 16, 2004
I know this is an odd request but I am in need of the driver disc that came with the audigy 2 sound card. I need the speaker setup programs on it. Their website only has updates of that software but not the full thing. I threw out my driver cd a while back thinking that I could just download the software again but I was wrong. Crazy creative.

   Alexvrb Feb 16, 2004
More typical Creative. Their driver/software situation has always been a mess. Anyway, I've got a file that looks like an Audigy 2 CD compressed. It has a folder in it that appears to contain the speaker setup program you want. Tell me how you want me to send it, and if you want the whole thing or what (it is a 119 MB .rar).

Oh yes, and apparently there is a way to mod the Audigy 2 drivers for use on Audigy and Live! sound cards. You don't get all of the features, and you don't get a crystal DAC obviously, but people say it helps things a lot. I dunno, I use a Fortissimo II so I've never had personal experience with it.

Edit: I'll try burning it and see if I can get it to run.

Edit 2.0: Whoops, my CDRs aren't here. I left them at a friend's house. But I did extract the speaker setup folder, and the installer runs and says creative speaker setup. So I can just .rar that up and AIM it to you or something. Wait, maybe I can just post it here... let me go compress it and see how big it is.

   Alexvrb Feb 16, 2004
Hmm, err, can't upload this type of file.

   mal Feb 16, 2004
What type of file are you trying to attach and how big is it?

   Alexvrb Feb 16, 2004
3 MB zip or rar

   mal Feb 17, 2004
That should be working fine. :huh

Try it again now.

Here we go:

name: SpkSet.part1.rar

size: 1357664 bytes

crc32: 585296C5

   Alexvrb Feb 17, 2004
part 2, because it was giving me hell, so i split it.

I just hope the speaker setup program is standalone, lol... if not I can always send it to you through other means such as AIM or upload it to an FTP.

name: SpkSet.part2.rar

Alrighty. I don't think it had anything to do with the filesize allowed, because bumping up the allowed size from 4 to 10 didn't help. But still related to the size? It spat out the error "can't upload this type of file". But whatever... splitting it worked, but I have no idea why. :looney

Just as long as it worked.

Here's a slightly more updated version (which contains an extra file ikernel.ex_ not present in Alexvrb's version) that I extracted from my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum installation CD.

You're just too damn good.

   Alexvrb Feb 17, 2004
They have additional updates on their web site, so it really doesn't matter as long as you have some working version. They just don't have the full thing online. Oh, and like I mentioned earlier, you can use the newest Audigy 2 drivers for Live! and Audigy 1 cards. Seems to fix a lot of software issues, even if it obviously doesn't upgrade any of the hardware. So if anyone still has one of those cards lying around, there's a guide here....

Edit: added better guide link, it has a link to the full driver CD. Interesting. So once you have that... you can get the updates for anything from Creative (after navigating their mess of a site). Maybe I should do that for my friend's Live card.

Yea, that full cd really helped. Thank you very much for finding it. Now I can have CMSS2 again with the 5.1
