okay, not really, but help would be greatly appreciated

my sega cd model 2 starts up just fine, but then it makes a really odd jerking/cranking noise which i assume is the laser. then it defaults to the no disc inserted message in the BIOS. this is with a real disc. i haven't tried it with a backup.

i think it's just a mechanical problem but i really don't know what to do or where to begin. think i should just try and find another model 2? thanks.

just sell it. People here buy old busted sega cd consoles and buy another working 1 off ebay

Just check your local thrift stores you never know.

Also you can send it in to Sega Parts... a really cool place to get replacement parts or get repairs done. Good Luck.
