My ISP account locked

It seems my provider closed temporary my account because the goal of the web service they provide is for making a web site and not file sharing, the only stuff I have is SX/NX soundtrack. I have agreed to remove the content not following that rule quickly, so I'll get back my ftp access in 24h.

So I guess I'll have to remove the sountracks I hosted, I guess that's because of too high downloads.

That part seemed obvious, most free services don't allow file sharing due to the high bandwidth requirement, and the pay hosting services do but charge a lot of money for it.


Its something I am trying to find a good solution to myself as I'd like to host movies and other large files, but the bandwidth requirement makes it an expensive option. So far it seems the only economical solution though still expensive is a dedicated server.

Free seems to be more picky about hosted contents lately, you're not the the first one I heard having this kind of problem in the last few days ...

It's actually the only reason SX itself doesn't host soundtracks anymore.

Shared services have pretty much always not allowed that type of content, however legality is mostly a cover story -- disk space is usually the "real" reason it's not allowed.

Yes I've seen that, it's not only for me they have closed massively user accounts whatever the stuff, it's a bit stupid. They argue the 10gb are only for making a web site and it seems with only html pages ... People sharing their own pictures got their account closed.

I have just removed tendoweb sountracks and some useless stuff, I'll see for SX OST later if I get my account closed a second time.

I've checked the stats of my "site" and it's a mp3 only site. I've discovered that some sites links directly to OSTs shared on my account or NX :

Yeah it looks to be a disk space problem and also bandwidth problem, people were complaining about speed. It's not really fair when you give 10gb to host a site and don't accept to give this space.

It's all smoke and mirrors. Any site that gives you 10GB diskspace (often much more) for less then $20 a month and equal if not greater bandwidth I can practically guarantee has a Terms of Service or similar that denies basically any content types that would get remotely close to using that space -- its smoke and mirrors, and how those companies make money.

If it's "shared" hosting, don't expect to use more then 5GB max for paid account (including sub-users) at _any_ host of this type.

For real space, expect to pay quite a bit more money -- your best bet is a dedicated server.
