nothing is perfect, but Media Player Classic is nice http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_so...yer_c... Also search for "quicktime alternative" it will allow you to use MPC for Quicktime without actually haveing QT installed |

I'm a really big fan of Zoom Player and Zoom Player professional on the Windows side. I don't know if they have QT support, but they can do just about everything else, and they allow you to tweak codec settings for optimal image quality. But then again, who needs any other media player when you have the almighty mplayer? |

if what was already suggested isn't working, install Quicktime and WMP 6.4 on your computer, and use Irfanview. yes, the image editor/converter does actually play Movies. it's kinda like a frontend for them, except the movie will open up inside an Irfanview window. |

Media Player Classic has no relation to Microsoft, get it here... and also get Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative. Or you could just install REalplayer and Quicktime and you'll be able to play those files in Media Player Classic. |

Media Player Classic is not so great. The program has problems reading mpeg headers which leads to incorrect aspect ratios and video sizes, and uses pretty un-obvious methods for doing things (Such as play listing/favorites and such). In addition, it seems to have a whack of functions for which the average person would never need to fiddle around with in the first place (While lacking odvious functions any player should have). As soon as I opened a VCD Standard video I instantly noted that at "supposed" 100% Viewing, the video was being squished slightly. And thatās without any widescreen or full screen offsetting with the controls! After fiddling around, I found out that this was not a setting and was a bug. If you use the REAL Media Player 6.4 you can immediately see that the picture is sized correctly and that it is free from distortion. |
