ST Dragon - Sep 9, 2005

I'm not sure what system this is for, but the screen shots look good.

Is this for the PS-2?

It's for Atomiswave. A PS2 port is likely, though. I think it looks pretty crappy, personally, but at least having Ralf & Clark in there is cool.

Metal Slug 3 is the best of the series imo.

The gameplay, the remixed audio tracks & the multiple routes, rox!

I still haven't completed MS5 ... I ought to one of these days.

Is Sammy the company that's making the Atomiswave hardware by the way?

 it290 Sep 9, 2005
Yeah. Well, they call themselves SEGA now. The Atomiswave is basically a stripped down NAOMI system.

 ST Dragon Sep 9, 2005
Interesting, I didn't know that.

Does the Atomiswave use the GD-ROM like the NAOMI GD-ROM system & Dreamcast?

Are there any 2D Shooters for the Atomiswave?

I think the Guilty Gear series is based on that board.

I'm pretty sure that the Atomiswave only uses carts.

 it290 Sep 9, 2005
Yes, it's cart only. As for GG, the first GGX game (not the original Guilty Gear) was on Naomi, as were all versions of GGXX. GGX 1.5 and Isuka were on Atomiswave, however. To my knowledge, there aren't any shmups that run on the hardware, although there are a good number of 2d fighters. Atomiswave is pretty much the official SNK hardware -- it's kind of the Neo Geo's successor in that respect, although many people (including myself) don't think it will last too long.

Nope, no shmups on the system... luckily. Otherwise it would just be another platform that i would have to fork out for.

I am surpised that it had such a "strong" following at this years AOU... well considering the usual lack of attention that the system gets. At least the rumours of Street Fighter 4 for Atomiswave were quashed.

What's really interesting about GGXX is that it was originally meant to be Atomiswave exclusive, then Arc System works pulled the plug and put it onto the Naomi GD platform.

Yeah, I really don't see why it couldn't have been on the Atomiswave, I guess Naomi just has/had more of an installed base.
