Hey All,

I bought a megadrive 1 today, plugged it in and all the pictures are screwed up.

please see the link above for pics.

Could anyone tell me what is wrong or how I could fix it?

Thanks

My best guess would be that something's wrong with the video encoder (on my board it's IC13; Sony CXA1145) or the surrounding capacitors. It's also possible that something's wrong with the VDP itself (IC8; Sega 315-5313), but you'd need to check RGB output to determine that.

Could this also be a result of an ac adaptor of incorrect voltage? I remember when I once used the wrong ac adaptor for my genesis, the colors were off, the image rippled a bit, and the sound was plagued with static.

Hey folks,

It ended up I could not get this megadrive working, thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up getting another 2nd hand one and it works great!

Awesome to see you finally got a way to play these old games. They're the best!
