Is it possible to create a converter for it without butching up the pad itself? I can't afford a USB Saturn pad, but I saw a regular one for a very cheap price and I'm wondering if I could make it compatible with my PC in some way.

The simplest way would be to create a parallel interface, you can find schematics and drivers on the net. Creating USB peripherals is always more involved (and costly) due to the nature of USB. I wouldn't be surprised if someone already makes converters for Saturn pads, though.

thats exactly what I want to avoid, opening up the pad and cutting wires and stuff. I'd rather not risk me fucking it up.

antime, can you give me some semantics for that parallel interface thingy? I could only find faqs for a linux driver.

Then again you could always hack up a saturn extension cable.

Has schematic to make parallel port interface for saturn multitap.

Allows you to use 6 controllers at once.

Only need to sacrifice a controller extension.

Costs less than $10 total.

I used a radio shack DB-25 crimp connector, no soldering at all!

Works great with multicontroller in analog or digital modes too.

WINXP needed.

Ah, that's exactly the kind of place I needed, it explains what to connect where from the pad to the port. Now on to make a that converter...
