Mac OS X/Amiga DE 4.0

Hey guys, this has been bugging me forever, and I'm finally getting around to posting it. You think it'd be possible to install Amiga DE 4.0 on my Blue & White G3? How about a Dual-Boot of Mac OS X and Amiga DE? Or... a Tri-Boot of Mac OS X/Mac OS 9.2 (for Classic Mode) and Amiga DE?

That brings up yet another question:

Is it even possible to do a "Tri-Boot" of three Operating Systems on a computer? Whether it be Mac or Wintel?

Wintel it's definitely possible. If you have win2k\xp, modify your boot.ini file. I'm not sure what the limit is, but it's definitely more than 3. If you have linux you can install some bootloader that will let you boot up many different os's, even windows.

I think it's possible.. doesn't OSX come with some kind of bootloader/menu thing that lets you choose whether you want to boot into X or Classic? I think it's in the preferences/control panel, actually. Not sure if it will allow you to boot into non-Apple OS's that way, but if not, I'm sure it's easily foolable.

As for Amiga DE, don't you need special hardware for that? Or am I thinking of something else?

For Wintel, just make sure you install the "dumbest" (in terms of bootloader) OS first. I.e. 98->XP->Linux.

Yeah.. but the matter at hand is Mac OS X/Mac OS 9/Amiga DE 4.0 As I am a Mac User :bow

Well, the 9/X thing is automatic. As for the AmigaDE thing, I was actually thinking about the 'upcoming' AmigaOS 4.0.. is that what you're referring to? Isn't AmigaDE more of an operating environment for PDAs and embedded devices?

Yes, I'm referring to the upcoming AmigaOS 4.0. AmigaDE was it's original name. I call it that because it just sounds cooler than "AmigaOS".

Then what are you talking about here then? :huh

Ah ok, so I figured. Although I think AmigaDE does refer to something else now. And nothing sounds cooler than AmigaOS... except maybe Amiga Kickstart/Workbench.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure you need one of their custom PPC boards to run it, not a Mac. Unless they changed that stupid plan.
