Ummm, did you check to make sure those 2 aren't muted in your volume controls on your pc? Most people keep theirs muted. Also you know you can play cd's on your pc itself using many different applications.

Yea i know u can play cds via the cdrom drives on the pc, i just prefere not to use them. Oddly enough line in isnt even available in the volume control.. the MIC is.. but it doesnt seem to work and iv checked to make sure its not muted.

If line in isn't showing up, go to options menu, proprieties, and select it

Well i solved the problem.. When i installed my soundcard for some reason i installed all of this stupid Sound Max software along with the driver. So i uinstalled everything, then searched the CD for only the driver and installed it that way, and walla the line in option was there.

Previous to this the line in box was no where to be found so that i could enable it.

but as i said above now all is well.

Thanx for the suggestions though

If the sound card is capable of surround sound (ie more than 2 speakers) then chances are the line in and mic inputs were used as the surround and center/sub outputs. Alot of soundcards to this for multi-speaker setups.
