Interact GameShark plays Imports!

When I was researching import conversion for the Saturn, the consensus on the interweb seemed to be that only the Action Replay 4-in-1 is able to play imports. None of the other cheat or memory devices are stated as playing imports.

However, I just picked up an Interact GameShark (as well as an Interact Memory Card Plus... what does the "plus" stand for anyway?). And to my surprise, it allows me to play imports. Just turn on the system with the gameshark in the cardslot. Then pop in the disk, and pick "play game with no cheats enabled".

Anyone else tried using the gameshark to play imports before? I'm using a round-button Saturn if that matters.

I've heard that the earliest versions could do it, but required a button combo to activate it (something like hitting A+B+C+Start on the appropriate "start game" option). I've never owned one though, so I've never really been in a position to try it (though I guess if I could find a firmware dump it should be possible to run it on an Action Replay 4M Plus).

either starting with or without cheats, I had to hold X+Y+Z and press start to play imports.

I'm pretty sure the later versions, 1.93 or whatever didn't require any button combo. Maybe because it was an easter egg in the first models and was never advertised on the packaging.

After killing my first Saturn's cart slot with the Gameshark's thick PCB, I went with the thinner Action Replay Plus (4-in-1).

I think I must have the later version then, as it doesn't require any button combos.

Also, I think that this later version I have has a safer, thinner PCB. I noticed because the Interact Memory Card Plus has a clearly thicker PCB board, and you can feel that it's much harder to get in and out of the slot than the Interact GameShark.

I read on line that those interact memory cards had a notorious thick PCB that ruined cardslots. Needless to say I won't be using it.

Though it has some saved games from Rayearth and ShiningForce on it from the previous owner, someone may find those useful.

I wish I hadn't used my interact memory card years ago =/
