Well it depends of the services you are after. You really should be able to get 100Mb storage + a couple of gigs transfer per month for less than 10 of your US-Earth dollars. Usually, you'll also get PHP and MySQL as wel as full FTP access. I can't recommend a specifc plan to you. As for the domain name, I guess you'd have to fight the company for it. If you wan't www.jeff-20.com... it's probably best if you register it yourself. |

You can register a name by yourself??? HOw? I always look for the host to register it for me. Please explain. |

the answer you seek can be found here: http://www.internic.com/regist.html... Edit: I went with dotster when I did my domain name a year and a half ago or whatever, they seem cheap, however you'll also need a dns entry or whatever which they don't provide unless they host you I think. They do webhost, but I have no idea how much it costs, but if you wanna go elsewhere and they don't provide dns entries then you can find places that will doi t for free if you don't end up using a lot of bandwith. |

so if I use one of these hosts, can I keep my DNS if or when I leave them? or does it belong to the company. Can I register my name seperatly as to keep it when I change hosts? |

If you're paying a separate fee for the domain name, you should be able to keep it. If it is a name that comes with the plan you're paying for, then you may have trouble. |

www.f2o.org... 75MB, no Ads, completely free. It's super-hard to get signed up though, but it's a very strong and close knit community. I've been using them for upwards a year now, and absolutely love it. They do also offer an IMAP email address. Oh, they do offer Perl, Python PHP and all that good stuff. You just simply need to choose it when signing up. There's a 3GB monthly transfer allowance. From what I read when you go over it you simply get warned, but if you continually go over it you get booted. Hey, big deal right? I'm sure you can get your domain name directed there, or you can just buy one from them. They're pretty reasonably priced. No caches! If you want to poke around, my address is http://comprak.f2o.org... . It's not much of anything but I have fun with it. |
