Help tuning Saturn Laser
Jedi Master Thrash - May 14, 2007

I have one Saturn (oval buttons) that won't play maybe 5% of my games that my other Saturn (round buttons) plays. It reads them as audio-discs only.

I assumed that the problem was an aged laser, and it needed tuning. I found the orange screw-dial under the laser assembly, and started tweaking.

If I move it 1/8 turn right or left, then the Saturn says "No Disc" when a game is inserted. I moved it about 1/16th turn right, and then it played the disc it couldn't play before once, but then after that it was back to audio-cd.

I'm curious if anyone else has experience tuning the laser and has some suggestions?

Thanks.

Just keep on fiddling with different settings. If it continues to not work, it's time for a replacement motor.

I actually have couple model 1 laser heads lying around, so give me a shout if you'd like to buy one off of me.
