indeed... but wouldn't compression slow things down somewhat, rather than speed them up?

I'm assuming the advantages of this are smaller filesizes, rather than speed?

Maybe there's some sort of slipstream effect where smaller files are read faster than larger ones...just spouting crap here.

Actually enabling GZip allows the html thats downloaded to your computer when you view the page to be compressed, and its uncompressed in realtime on your browser, thereby sending things faster making it faster.

Maybe the technology folds in on itself and creates a worm-hole-like effect before it reaches where you live Karny, therefore slowing it down more than not having compressed files in the first place. >_>;
