One guy on another forum I'm on told me that his Saturn broke due to it being modded...I know its just one guy telling me that...but does modding a Saturn cause more stress/wear on the laser or whatever to cause it to break faster than normal?

I'm looking to buy a pre-modded Saturn...no way I'm attmepting to mod my Model 1 Saturn...i bought that one on release day for 400.00...lolol.

Not sure if there is any truth to that. I modded mine quite a few years ago and it still works just fine. He probably shouldn't shower with his saturn.

The mod itself (assuming a proper install) doesn't do anything bad to the Saturn, but using cheap/poorly-burned discs can cause additional wear on any CD reader, especially those that were designed and made before CD-R was a common technology. Most likely the guy had a Saturn that was already on its last legs, and trying to get it reading some crappy CD-Rs knocked it over.
